Garden and Grounds at Monnington House
At almost two acres in size, the garden at Monnington House is large. Follow the drive to the designated parking area, which has space for 10 cars. To the left of the drive is the ‘Courtyard Lawn’ which is surrounded by outbuildings. These house the games room and table tennis room. The Courtyard Lawn is a fun place for the whole family, where children enjoy jumping from stone to stone and everyone can enjoy a game of croquet too.
A huge lawn wraps around the house and annexe. There is plenty of room to play house badminton or make a den in the bushes. If you have a dog with you they will love watching the squirrels run down the post and rail fence. They collect the walnuts and then carry them to their ‘homes’. Proper little Squirrel Nutkins!
Monnington House also has two paved terraces. The house terrace faces south and has garden furniture for 20 guests, a Weber style BBQ and shade. It is a real sun trap and great for lazy lunches. The second terrace is by the sitting room in the annexe. It overlooks the playing fields and small orchard, simply the perfect setting to enjoy a quiet breakfast after the night before.
There’s also a massive playing field with two goal nets. A lovely spot for friendly, or not so friendly football, netball or cricket.
Leisure facilities
For rainy days and dark evenings the rustic table tennis room and games room come into their own.
The table tennis room is located at the end of the outbuildings. It has plenty of space for a good match. But remember to bring your fleece; there is no heating.
In the games room there’s a pub-sized pool table and table football.
